With Google Places, you can create highly targeted advertisements that put your campaign up front and center, so that whenever someone types in a name of a product, service or company, your ad is displayed among the search results.

You are in full control of what information is displayed with your Google Places listing, and can edit this information at any time.

To access Google Places, you will need to sign in with your gmail account. If you don't yet have a gmail account, which is a free email service provided by Google, you will want to create one at http://www.Gmail.com

You can use this email address in your business listing, or simply to manage to your Google Places account. Once you have set up your gmail account, return to Google Places and log into your account.

Next, click on "List Your Business", keeping in mind that Google Places allows you to create up to 10 business listings per account. You can manage all of your listings from within your main account later on.

The next step is to choose your country from the drop down menu. If you can't find your country within the menu, chances are that Google Places is not yet available to you.

You can subscribe for updates and news regarding availability from the Google Places main page. If you have found your country within the drop down menu, highlight it, and enter in your business phone number. Even if you don't own a brick & mortar business, you can still create a Google Places listing just by entering in your office phone, or customer support number.

Click 'find business information" to continue. Google Places will run a quick search to determine whether a listing already appears for your business. If not, you will be able to continue, or if a listing has been found, you will be given the opportunity to edit the information.

When creating your Google Places listing, you will want to make sure that your company or business information is accurate and complete.

Your Google Places advertisement will not be approved unless Google is given enough information about your business to be able to create a detailed ad.

This includes:
• Country: Where your business is located
• Company Name
• Address: Your full physical mailing address.
• City, State & Zip
• Business Phone Number: Where customers can reach you or inquire
about your services.


When choosing a telephone number for your Google Places, you will want to consider whether you should set up a toll free number (if targeting potential customers outside of your local region), or if a direct line to your business would better serve your customers.

Depending on whether you offer services locally or you provide online purchase or ordering options, you may want to offer both a local number as well as a toll - free number as well. You can set up a toll free number at affordable rates by visiting http://www.TollFreeNumbers.com

Website URL: This is an important area as it will lead customers directly to your website where they can learn more about you.

If you don't yet have an online website, you will want to consider hiring a development team to create one for you, even if it only displays additional contact information and a brief summary of what your business has to offer.

Having a website will not only give you the opportunity to maximize exposure from Google Places, but also directly from search engine traffic through Google, Yahoo and other major search engines.

Business Description: It's time to write a brief summary of your business, and you will want to integrate relevant keywords into your listing so that people can easily find you.

Be direct with your listing as you are limited on space and need to make sure that you share the most important, relevant information about your company or business. Take your time writing down your description, and spell check before saving!

Choose A Category: You will need to place your ad within a relevant category for your business. This is an important step because placing your business in the wrong category will make it harder for your business to be found or appear in relevant search results.

Make sure you browse through available categories until you find the one best suited for what your business is about. There are over 140 categories (and sub categories) to choose from.

Tip: I suggest choosing a specific category for your business, rather than a broad one. Doing this will better target your customer, as you're Google Places ad will be displayed only when specific, targeted keywords are used.

For example, if you own an Italian restaurant, rather than placing your ad within "restaurants", place your ad within the "Italian restaurant" sub category for more targeted results.

Once you have selected your primary category, click "add another category" to begin choosing and assigning keywords to your Google Places listing. Again, make sure that you choose the most relevant and targeted keywords for best results. You are given the option of using up to 6 fields when creating your ad and it's important that you utilize all 6 fields for maximum exposure.

You will now be able to add additional information to your listing including your service areas, hours of operation, pricing, payment plans or options, and even images or photos of your business. All of this information and extra data will help potential customers make the decision to purchase through your business or company, so make sure that you create a compelling, full featured Google Places listing!

Once your ad has been submitted, you will receive a phone call from Google verifying details relating to your listing. You could also send a confirmation letter to Google for approval, but telephone verification is the fastest and easiest method of approving your ad and getting it listed!

What Do You Love? - From Google

What Do You Love is a new search tool that references and returns results from 20 Google services at the same time. As an Online Advertiser I will be using "What Do You Love" often for extensive online research.

All that is required is a search term and "What Do You Love" will return with results such as News Feeds, Videos, Pictures, Books, Maps, and a variety of information about the subject searched. "What Do You Love" then renders it all on one page using widgets for easy access.

Google Labs has recently unleashed some really cool features that we want to introduce to you. We would like to hear your feed back as to your thoughts if you would care to share.

There are 3 New Google Features:

1. +1 Button
2. Keyboard Shortcuts
3. Accessible View

+1 Button is a feature that allows you to give your stamp of approval so to speak and will help recommend the stuff that you like to your friends and contacts who trust your advise because they probably have similar interests as you do. These +1's become public in your Google Profile and will also be shared throughout Google search results, Ads, and other sites across the web.


Keyboard Shortcuts allows you to minimize usage of your mouse by creating keyboard shortcuts that give you the ability to navigate search results quick and easy.


Accessible View is similar to keyboard short cuts in which you can navigate search results quick and easy from your keyboard. However, with Accessible View items are magnified for easier viewing as you navigate. If you are using a screen reader or talking browser the highlighted information is read out loud to you as you navigate.

Pretty cool right? We thought so too.

Today is our 1 Year Anniversary!



Today is the 1 year anniversary of Local Online Business Development, LLC. and JEDI WEB SERVICES. How do I turn my faithful Fans it to new Clients?

...and Blog some more. Did I say Blog? hehe, Seriously though, it's like the movie "Field of Dreams", remember the saying? "If you build it, they will come." Well, in this case, "if you blog it, they will read... follow, become fans and eventually Clients. It might take some time and some patients but keep at it steady and as long as the information you provide is truly valuable it would be wasted time. Especially to your readers.



PS.) On a side note I knowingly admit that I haven't been following my own advise as often as I should and to my followers, fans, and clients I apologize. As the Owner and Operator of two successful Companies, and currently representing many others I simply find it hard to make time but it is my promise to you that I will work on this some more and make more time to share my knowledge. 


If any of you find yourselves in my shoes in which you wish you had more time to blog I recommend outsourcing the work to companies like ours. Should I spend money on Pay Per Click or is there something better?

Here is why you shouldn't waste your money on Pay Per Click (PPC)...

Pay Per Click is an online marketing medium that myself and the team at Jedi Web Services are not believers in. PPC is the last thing that I would recommend to any of my clients. I think it is a wait of money, especially when compared to other online advertising options.

Lets look at the facts. A few years ago the Nielsen Ratings determined that Pay Per Click Advertisements only get a 16% click through rate at the most. I don't think a lot has changed within the past 5 years but if they have I'll bet the odds are even worse. Also consider that often a paper click listing will be accompanied by say 3 more options on the right hand side. So lets now divide that 16% by 4. Now you only have a 4% chance that you get a "hit" from an onlooker.

But I only pay for each hit I receive and I like that I can see detailed reports on how many impressions, hits, etc... that I get. You say?

That's nice but what you will most likely find is that not many of those seem to turn in to new business because the 4% of those that click on your ads happens to be your competition checking you out, or curious people that might be in the same industry, developers looking for new ideas and designs, maybe someone doing a report on you industry, product, or service.

Most serious online shoppers don't pay attention a Pay Per Click Ads because no one really enjoys having advertisements push in our face no matter how targeted they are. There is something subconscious that tells us that the "Organic" listings on the left hand side of the first page are the best results for ones search. We tell ourselves those must be the leaders in that industry, or best choices to buy a product or service from. This may or may not be true on the surface, at first, but perception eventually becomes reality.

Don't get me wrong. There is no "bad" place to be on Google's first page. Some places are just much much better than others.

The Google Maps for example are in my educated opinion the absolute BEST place to be for any local business owner looking to get the attention of local clientele. This also works well for nation businesses that understand the power of taking the nation by storm one territory at a time or a few territories at a time.

Getting found in a natural organic placement on the left hand side under the map is very powerful but lets compare that to a Google map listing.

Organic S.E.O. is VERY expensive, takes months to get any results, if any, and their are no guarantees. It's actually taboo to offer a guarantee in the S.E.O. world.

S.E.O. and it's Ethics. Is it possible to guaranteed SEO results?





It is true that it is tabu to guarantee Search Engine Optimization (SEO) results and if somebody does offer the guarantee of results, he or she "might" be using some "Black Hat techniques" which is not a good SEO practice and it can cause to penalization by google or other big search engines. However, JediWebServices.com does offer a "guarantee" and promises front page placement within days. How can this be?

First I would like to make it clear that the team at Jedi Web Services ONLY uses "White Hat techniques" and would never do anything to jeopardize our clients and/or our own relationship with Google or any other search engine.

Second the team at Jedi Web Services are actually able to show their clients first page results on Google within 2 or 3 weeks usually long before they even receive a charge on there credit card statement. If we are not able to show significant results within those first 30 days we would just simply refund our clients money... luckily this rarely happens because we almost always get the job done.

Thirdly if for any reason our clients lose there first page placements months down the road we would be happy to provide a prorated refund. Luckily this has NEVER happened unless our clients did something to effect the results like changed their website wording or took down their original website completely. Even in these cases we would provide a prorated refund if our client desired.
